Dear Eagle Board of Review:
It is my distinct pleasure and privilege to write these comments regarding Isaac James Ruffer and his worthiness as a Scout to be received as an Eagle by the national organization of the Boy Scouts of America.
I have had a very close relationship with Isaac over the years and have frequently lived close to him; in that respect we have been practically inseparable. During his life I have watched him grow into a truly marvelous young man: kind, intelligent, faithful, loyal, courteous, obliging, frugal, trustworthy and reverent to name a few of his exceptional qualities that are also numbered among those of The Scout Law.
Isaac is the oldest of four brothers. He takes his responsibility as an older brother very seriously and treats his younger brothers with courtesy and respect, though demanding a proper degree of honor and respect from them in return. His influence on his younger brothers has been exceptional, and it is clear that the younger brothers emulate Isaac’s qualities. He has, in this way, helped his parents raise his younger brothers by his example.
Isaac has always been highly respectful of his parents and of all adults. He has exemplified the best of youthful maturity and has a bright and pleasant appreciation of his elders. He carries these excellent qualities into his school, athletics and church activities where he exceeds all expectations for youthful respect and decorum. I have always been exceptionally proud to be around Isaac in his out-of-home activities. Isaac is a pleasure to be around, and he makes one feel special, honored and comfortable in his presence.
Isaac is a superb athlete and he not only excels in sports physically and mentally but also in sportsmanship. He has helped lead his Las Vegas, suburban, soccer team to win the Nevada State Championship for seven years in a row – an honor that has probably never been duplicated in the State of Nevada. He is the quintessential athlete.
Isaac is an excellent scholar who takes his courses with a seriousness that bespeaks his dedicated preparation for future excellence in whatever field of endeavor his chooses.
I have just described the ideal young man and Scout, as I have written these paragraphs about my Grandson. I have not described Isaac’s scouting activities in this letter because they will speak for themselves as you review his records during the Eagle review process, but I can say that I personally observed Isaac carryout his Eagle Project; and he demonstrated sincerity of heart, cleanliness of mind and body, chivalry, a cheerful manner, superb leadership skills and respect and obedience towards his elders.
In Isaac you have an exquisite young man and Scout, an individual who is a blessing to his home, his family, his friends, his church and his country. I warmly, with full enthusiasm of heart, recommend Isaac James Ruffer to you as meeting all the qualities requisite of an Eagle Scout, to the extent to which I can be considered a judge.
Sincerely,
James Allen Ruffer MD
